Judy Jackson is a board-certified genetic counselor at South Shore Hospital in South Weymouth, Massachusetts, USA where she works in the department of Maternal Fetal Medicine. Judy began her career as an operations assistant at Integrated Genetics/Genzyme Genetics in the cytogenetics department. She graduated from Brandeis University in 1996 with a master’s degree in genetic counseling. She has worked for 19 years as a prenatal genetic counselor serving in that capacity for 8 years with Tufts Medical Center’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Program. She joined the department of Maternal Fetal Medicine at South Shore Hospital in 2008 where she currently provides Perinatal Genetic Counseling Services. Her outreach has focused on genetics education and health/genetics literacy for a variety of audiences including healthcare providers, conferences, and other healthcare professional meetings. She has also served as a Professor at Brandeis University since 2004 in the biology department teaching Human Reproductive and Developmental Biology to first year genetic counseling students and Brandeis undergraduates interested in pursuing a career in medicine. She is an advisor to current and prospective genetic counseling students, while also serving on the advisory board for the Genetic Counseling Program at Brandeis University. Judy is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and is the chairperson of ISPD’s genetic counseling SIG.
